How do trees bring rainfall? Relation between Tree and Rain

Tree

We have studied in childhood that if we plant a tree it will bring rainfall and it increase the ground water level.

Do you know how it actually does? Let’s get to this.

Trees are a source of oxygen which is essential for all living organisms to live on the earth. Such trees also help in bringing the rainfall and increasing the groundwater level.

Due to the sun’s rays, the water available in the earth gets evaporated and it goes up and mixes with the minute dust particles present in the atmosphere and forms Cloud.

This Cloud will not give rainfall until the condensation happens. Whenever cool air touches these clouds it will condense and precipitate as rainfall.

Thus trees help in providing cool air to the clouds.

You may have a question. How trees provide cool air ?

Usually, leaves present in the trees are filled with water. Whenever the sun’s rays fall on the leaves the water present in it gets evaporated. The moisture content along with the air makes the cooling effect which helps in bringing rainfall to our Earth.

Second thing, Trees help in increasing the groundwater level. Do you know how ?

Whenever rainfall happens, water falls over the trees and after that, it goes to the stem region and falls on the soil. Water not only settles on the top layer of the ground it also goes under the soil through a passage called roots.

Each tree has a complex root system that spreads over a wider area. Using the passage, the water travels and recharges the groundwater.

Let’s imagine!

If we do not have a tree, what will happen?

Rain falls on the soil and water settles on the top layer of the soil and due to the sun’s heat, the water will evaporate. Here the water didn’t go underground which means there is no recharge of underground water.

To increase the underground water and to bring rainfall we must plant lots of trees to safeguard our Earth.
